Bureau for Children With Medical Handicaps (Conditions)
BCMH is a program provided through the Galion City Health Department
that promotes the early identification of children with medical
conditions and treatment. The goal of BCMH is to assist children up to
age 21 with obtaining high quality comprehensive care and services, as
needed.
There are two parts to the BCMH program:
The Diagnostic Program provides
funds for an evaluation,
establishment of a diagnosis and development of a plan of treatment.
The Treatment Program
provides for ongoing medical coverage related to the medical condition(s).
Why is BCMH important? BCMH provides:
Medical coverage similar to a
medical insurance.
A second form of medical
coverage to supplement other insurance.
No charge for three
months of diagnostic testing and consulting.
Medical coverage for simple
and complex conditions such as chronic ear infections and cerebral
palsy.
Quality physicians that must
meet high standards. We are grateful to have Dr. Marcia Brown,
and Dr. Andrew Lee as local BCMH pediatricians.
Public Health Nurses (PHN's)
from the local Health Departments are available to assist parents as
much or as little as they choose in managing the child's care. PHN's are
available to:
A: Answer questions regarding the child's medical condition or
coverage.
B: Assist parents with insurance, schools, physicians,
pharmacies, hospitals and medical supplies.
C: Listen.
