U.S. Congressman Jim Jordan (4th District) visited Galion Monday. He met with business leaders and citizens at the Chamber of Commerce to discuss a possible repeal of the Affordable Care Act, as well as any other issues raised by attendees.
Jordan explained the new healthcare plan that he supports is separate from the plan proposed by Congressional leadership. His plan would repeal and replace the ACA over a two-year time period.
Changes include removing mandates for healthcare coverage, fully implementing a market place model for choosing an insurance plan and allowing interstate shopping, and allowing customized plans to better meet customer needs.
He said the goal is to bring down the cost of insurance and healthcare, while giving people access to the healthcare coverage they need.
Other topics during the discussion included the $20 trillion Federal deficit; Federal funding for Great Lakes water quality, particularly to combat harmful algal bloom; and protecting Medicare and Social Security.
