Mayor Tom O'Leary was a featured speaker during the Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Economic Development and Business Forecast Breakfast on March 8. A video is below.
He announced construction on Portland Way South will resume next week. Accomplishments from 2015 that he highlighted included a drainage project on the east side of town and a ditch cleaning that allowed the city to avoid a $1 million infrastructure project. The city also lowered water and sewer rates. Changes in electric rates caused a decrease for some customers and a slight increase for others, but large power users experienced some rate relief.
This year, Mr. O'Leary said the city will be proactive with economic development. He is optimistic about leasing a 300,000-square-foot building that the city recently received as a gift. The city is also putting together various development tools that will be new to the community.
